The Swan Store in Spetses, designed by simpl. Architecture Studio, is housed in a converted traditional shipwrights’ workshop, carefully transformed into a contemporary retail environment. The design preserves the vernacular character of the original structure, highlighting the raw materiality of the historic space.
The interior composition is enriched through a curated mix of antique salvaged furniture sourced from various regions across Greece, alongside original shipwright’s tools preserved from the workshop, creating a layered narrative between past and present. These elements are integrated with tailored contemporary retail displays and custom shelving systems, designed to accommodate a diverse product mix while maintaining spatial clarity and flexibility.
The result is a refined retail space that connects Spetses’ maritime heritage with a modern shopping experience, blending history, craftsmanship, and contemporary retail design.
