The ‘Museum and Monuments of Greece’ competition was an ambitious effort to create a unique visual identity for all cultural heritage venues in Greece. Our approach was to design a coherent identity, reflecting the minimal geometrical aesthetics of the ideas of ancient Greece, rather than mimicking relevant iconographic stereotypes. The proposed logotype system is designed on an axis system deriving from the Pythagorean φ (fi) also known as the golden ratio. This basic design principle is the origin for the creation of a coherent design system of elements ranging from packaging to signage solutions. It is a bold concept, aiming to provide a sustainable contemporary visual platform for all Greek cultural heritage institutions.
