This single family house is located in the town of Kozani in northern Greece. The building volumes evolve around an enclosed yard in order to provide controlled exterior views from the inside of the house as well as provide a sense of privacy to everyday family life. In the interior the all common spaces are linked by a double height atrium which is designed as an extension of the enclosed yard. The synthesis of the white building volumes is simple and neutral in order to subtly adapt to contemporary urban texture of Kozani. Nevertheless the core principles of the design are deeply rooted in the local vernacular architecture. The enclosed outer spaces, the interior atrium as a link of all house areas, the three part articulation of the plan layout, had been typical qualities of the local house typology for centuries.
