According to Hindu cosmology, the world is thought to rest on the backs of elephants, standing on the shell of a turtle and everything is encircled by the world serpent. The Grandslum horizontal farming project is organized in a similar manner. The habitation cloud rests upon the low rise earth volumes, that are hosting communal uses. The earth-made pillars are founded between the cultivated and public areas, the agora and the meadow, the solid foundations of community’s life and prosperity. The whole system is evolving in a perpetual cycle, whereas commodities are produced, processed, consumed and finally recycled locally. Like bees in a beehive, community members can co-create an independent and sustainable future.
